Milka Adhiambo is one of our beneficiaries at Maisha Bora Initiative for Youth Program. She joined the program in the year 2009.She has been an orphan now for 13 years. Both parents died in 2004 and 2005 respectively.Milcah with her four siblings were now left orphan and they could curse the day they were born and make many complains to the creator. ”How could God take away our parents while we are still too young? Is He really just? ”Those are the questions that could twinkle their mind but no one was there to answer. Graciously, the father’s colleagues joined hands to support the siblings and they were distributed amongst staff members. This lasted for one year and the siblings were returned to their uncle. The burden was really heavy to the uncle because he was a casual labourer in a flower farm where they were leaving. Before Milcah and her 3 siblings came in to his home he had been leaving with his late sister’s two children. Later in 2009 his wife passed on when she was giving birth to his last born son. The family had a hard time to adjust and comply with their status and allow nature take it course. Milcah’s uncle had been fighting to ensure all the siblings acquire the basic needs.
Maisha Bora couldn’t resist responding to Milcah’s urge for education and offered her sponsorship since form 1 to college. She pursued a Diploma in teaching at Bondo Teachers Training college. She graduated in May 2016 and has been working in a private school as a teacher.she
lives with her uncle and other siblings and is able to assist the family with basic needs e.g. food, schooling items and uniforms. They establish goals.” I overcame the school fees obstacle I believe I can finish the long journey ahead.”
