Lucy grew up in Kabati in a family of 9 sibling 5 brothers and 4 sisters. They were brought up by a single mother who was a small scaled farmer. She had a hard time in bringing up the children and providing them with basic needs.Being the sole bread winner with this large family she really overstreched and many are times they could spend without a meal. The mother also experienced rejection from her extended family ,to this family education was not a priority. later on in 2000 the mother passed on and situations worsen and there was no hope and any sense of living to this family. The elder brother was in his early 20s and he was forced to take care of his 8 siblings since the extended family had rejected them. They lived in a house where the elder brother was leaving.Friends and church members where the brother used to fellowship supported them and their last born was taken by a home in Naivasha which is still supporting him up to date .The brother managed to offer daily bread to the siblings with the assistance of welwishers therefore education remained a challenge to the family.Lucy and her 2 sisters happened to meet Maisha Bora and their dreams to be in school like other children in the village came to true. She was sponsored since 2007 until 2013 when she graduated with certificate of primary education.Currently teaching in a private primary school in Naivasha. She is greatful for Maisha Bora and prays to be part of the organisation some day to give back to the community.
